On turning nine

Somehow its been nine years since I “opened up shop” at this little spot in the bloggy universe. How did that happen? It’s pretty incredible to go through the archives and see the twists and turns of life and the different incarnations my life has taken from teaching, to law school and lawyering, to now working with my agent to sell a novel and raise two beautiful boys. I’m so thankful for this space to put my thoughts into words, and for the connections I’ve made, some that have blossomed into real and lasting friendships I feel eternally blessed to have in my life. Between sleep deprivation and mountains of laundry, I have nothing witty or profound to add today except to say thank you for reading. One of the particular joys a blogger gets is knowing who is reading. If it interests you, I put a link to the blog’s facebook page to the right, I don’t post much there but it does link to my instagram account and updates when there’s a new post here. In any case, if you are reading these words I would truly love to hear from you. Just a hello, or how you came to this blog, what you enjoy reading, anything really, would make my day!

  1. Happy Anniversary! I don't know how I stumbled upon your blog, but it was about a month ago when the Boston Marathon bombing happened. I've gone thru some of your archives and your babies are beautiful!

  2. Thank you Selina! Welcome to the blog and thank you for the comment and kind words! πŸ™‚

Julia, I too love reading your posts as well, but am a horrible commenter of late- glad to have met you in the blogosphere! Thanks!

  3. Been your follower through a comment of Koonj regarding your blog about Non Stick Pans and even the chickens walking away from them. I'm sure I can find it somewhere in 2006/7 time. I've been reading your blog since and very pleased at your three big recent achievements your two boys and your novel. Keep up your good writing. Xx

  4. Happy anniversary! I think I found your blog when it was mentioned to me as “local” to my (then) new home here in Georgia. Our family is getting ready to move west for a job, but I'll keep reading even when we aren't living in the same metro area. I enjoy your stories, your writing, and your photos. Thanks for sharing them here.

  5. Happy blogoversary!!! I've been reading for several of those years. I honestly don't remember why/how I first came across your blog, probably my friend Gretchen, I'd guess. I've loved watching your boys grow up and I love your writing style. I don't comment very often, must get better!

  7. I have been reading you for several years. I think I found you through reading Sprogblogger's blog. I love both of your blogs! I have enjoyed reading your perspective on so many things. And though we come from different backgrounds, how very similar we are. Keep writing, I will keep reading!

  9. Kris, aw I had no idea you lived in the metro area! Are you a Decaurite? Wish you the best out west but wish our paths had crossed, we share a lot in common with parenting, thanks for your supportive comments, they've really helped me particularly the first few months of mothering two.

Mystic, and for that I'm always thankful, wow, through all the blogging and bloggers, you are a stalwart blogger yourself and that is sheer awesome πŸ™‚

E Reyes, thanks for your comment! It is nice to “meet” you πŸ™‚ I understand how tough it can be to comment, but thanks for checking in today πŸ™‚

  11. Happy blog anniversary! I have been reading for at least the past year, maybe more. I think I found you through a comment on another blog, but I can't remember which.

You are a wonderful writer and I really like the way you capture the individuality and growth of both of your boys. Hope you keep writing here and in print for a long time.

  13. Wow. 9 years, seems like a long time and probably feels like yesterday! I stumbled across your blog a while back and found a lot of similarities…I am a Pakistani who got married and moved here, am a lawyer by profession now working in legal finance but in my heart I am an aspiring writer…Wish you all the best for the future!!!
