pinterest, social media

I was hesitant to join Pinterest, afraid it would be yet another time-suck that would keep me online and away from my 2013 goal of less online connectivity and more in-person-in-the-moment relatabilty but when a friend suggested I give it a whirl, I whirled and now? Now I’m slightly hooked as I daydream of the tables that shall be painted, the curtains that will be sewn and the fancy schmancy meals that will be made. Seriously though, it seems to be the one social media app that is not simply a time suck as long as one actually does the things they pin and not simply pin for the sake of pinning. It’s been about a week since I became an active user and already I’ve done about five of the things I’ve pinned and I’m loving that! I truly believe it will help me accomplish my goals of 2013 [though the goal of less online-connectivity is challenged by this particular application] [More on the attempt to disconnect and connect in an upcoming post because that is a post unto itself] but for now? I heart pinterest [mostly when the kids are asleep. Mostly] and if you’re there I’m there too and would love to follow!

  1. LOL. I've been implicated… I'm glad this turned out to be a positive addiction or you would hate me right now.

I know some people who have gotten on there and pinned all kinds of designer clothes and high heels and home ideas they could never afford, (indoor pools and such – fantasy house ideas), and of course it just made them very unhappy with what they have.

There's a right way and a wrong way to use it, I think – Finding ideas that make you more productive, spreading the word about good causes and things, spreading positivity/motivation/creativity that you can actually use, is one of the good things to do with it πŸ™‚

  2. Woah, I'm impressed. That is some seriously prolific Pinteresting! πŸ™‚ We made a Pinterest bookshelf for little man's room and it took far too many weekends to count. It may be the only thing we ever make but gosh is it fulfilling to know we made at least one thing πŸ™‚

  3. Tracy, yeah I don't do any of that. . . that would then turn pinterest into a source of depression for me instead of the inspiration that I am finding in it! Thanks for pushing me to give it a try πŸ™‚

Azmina, um yeah, I have a lot of categories, lol. Great to find you on there and you might have a noticed I have a few of your recipes pinned to dinner! πŸ™‚
