The difference a year makes

One year ago today I felt a fluttering in my womb.
My first tangible proof of life residing within.
Six months ago, I held a newborn in my arms.
Eyes shut, lips quivering. Helplessness personified.
Today?
Today, he giggles and crawls.
He hugs stuffed animals, and his smiles?
They contain the meaning of the universe.

I think of the butterfly flutters inside me just one year ago and look at the physical manifestation before me today. What a difference a year makes.

  2. Here from ICLW – What a cutie! It's always amazing to be able to look back on a year and see how much has changed (especially when it's good). Hope your next year is great, too.
